As another summer will soon be drawing to a close, and as we get ready for a busy time of year, i’m grateful. I came across an old poem the other day called “the summer day” by mary oliver, and i want to share part of it here with you. I’m so proud of my daughter, melissa, who’s blessed me with three beautiful grandchildren.
I’ll tell you that i have a lot of wealth in my life, and most of it comes in the form of my family, friends and the life i’m privileged to lead. Set today as the first day of the rest of your life as the summer days begin to draw to a close and the sun sets earlier each day, do you have anything that you want to do? is there any change you want to make in your life? my question to you is, what’s stopping you from making it happen now? what’s stopping you from achieving that goal? is it time or money? what if i were to tell you that the only thing stopping you from getting to the goal you want to achieve, is you? look in the mirror. The only thing stopping you from getting where you want to go in life is the person staring back at you from the mirror.
Living every moment those who know me well understand that i’m typically awake and working as early as 4 a. M. Sure, i might head to bed early as well, but i believe in the adage, “early to bed, early to rise.
M. I’m someone who is dissatisfied with the way things are, and i look to continually dream bigger dreams and improve on where i was yesterday. Sure, i love my life and what i have, but i wholly believe that things can always get better.
That’s the fun part of life–the possibilities are endless. And, so long as there’s always a great goal to accomplish in my life, and yes, even for humanity, that’s where my focus will always be. Life isn’t for the faint of heart.
And, an abundant life doesn’t mean wealth beyond all measure, although to some that might be the definition. To me, it means that you actively participate in your life. Life isn’t a spectator sport.
If you’re not satisfied with how things are in your life, you have to ask yourself if you’re putting in all of the energy that you could or are you simply waiting for something better to come along? are you an active player or a spectator? the reality is that living life doesn’t happen by sitting on your behind expecting good fortune to walk through your door. If you want to live the extraordinary life you were destined to live, well then you have to commit to living it. You have to get your hands dirty, and you’ve got to go out there and get what you want.
Stay the course nothing i have in my life came without a price. Everything came at a cost. I’ve seen many who have said to me, “wayne, you live such a great life.
I want what you have. If you’re ready and prepared to keep the focus on the ball and not be deterred when things go sideways, or you’re tired, then you will get to the goal. It never does.
Stay in your lane and do the work.
